This course is designed to serve as the foundation in the fundamentals of film studies for students intending to major in Film Studies. It provides a grounding in the range of primary areas that constitute this discipline, including the art, industry, and cultural institution of cinema; the medium of film in both its material and digital forms; film style and narrative forms and types; genres; key points in film history; and an overview of the vast cultural diversity of this medium of expression. This course is intended for students entering the Film Studies major. It is the recommended introduction to film studies course for the major and fulfills the Introduction Core Course requirement.
Multiple required components--lab and/or discussion section. To register, submit requests for all components simultaneously.
