Performance + Research Studio is a practicum class with two purposes. First, students will strengthen and develop their performance skills with the goal of building an ensemble. Students will also conduct on-going research on the process of staging historical documents as source material. Each three-hour session will involve games, physical theater and improvisation related to script development.
THEATER 140 or 190EH Performance + Research is a studio practicum class with a dual focus; to develop techniques and practices towards building a performing ensemble and to explore adapting the profound and provocative text, Citizen: An American Lyric, for the stage. Written by Claudia Rankine and published in 2014 to unanimous acclaim, the book demands our attention as this nation grapples with defining who we are as a society. Each three-hour session will involve games, physical theater and improvisation related to script development. The course is offered pass/fail for 2 credits.
