This course examines the place of gender in the archive through active engagement with the history of Smith College Special Collections and its holdings. Students acquire grounding in the history of the College, study the origins of the Sophia Smith Collection and have opportunities to choose to work with collections documenting a range of personalities, institutions and movements. Restrictions: Juniors and seniors only. Enrollment limited to 12. Instructor permission required. (E)
