This course attends to English-language queer poetry from the 20th and 21st centuries. What is a poem? What makes a poem queer? With special attention to both form and style, this class will consider various examples of queer poetry and will engage with questions of history, social organization, intertextuality, and queer theory to understand some of the meanings of queer poetics. Time and Narrative The content of this course deals with issues of race and power Students should expect to spend 6-8 hours weekly on work and preparation outside of class time
