Advanced Track

Building Academic Leaders in the Humanities

Program Highlights

The Advanced track is designed for faculty who want to explore campus-wide leadership opportunities and who have some administrative or leadership experience. With a smaller cohort of fifteen, this track focuses on group discussions and problem solving as participants build leadership skills and capacity. Through this program, participants will learn from both current Five College leaders and each other as they engage with workshops, case studies, and reflective practice over the course of the academic year. The Advanced track meets for three 1-day retreats and six shorter 90-minute meetings. In addition to these meetings, participating faculty will also select and meet regularly with a mentor throughout the year who will advise them on their leadership growth. This program includes a $4,000 participatory stipend and a $2,500 travel stipend for attendance at a leadership conference.

Eligible Faculty:

  • Currently teach in the humanities or humanistic social sciences.
  • Have some administrative or leadership experience at the department, center, or committee level.
  • Want to learn more about a campus-wide leadership role or are currently serving in such a role.
  • Tenured faculty, or faculty who are off the tenure line (e.g., professor of the practice), are eligible to apply. Tenure-track faculty are ineligible to apply.
