Situated in the Dawnland and at the crossroads of nations north, south, east, and west, we invite regional NAIS scholars to our five campuses to renew ties, create new collaborations, and celebrate ongoing work. In particular, this in-person gathering will be an opportunity to support upcoming scholars. Graduate students and junior faculty are invited to present with established scholars, and roundtables/workshops will seek to share best practices and explore new directions.

The Five College Symposium is the final event of the NAISA 2022 regional gathering series.

This gathering is open to all and in-person.

Participation in any of the events (reception, symposium, and performance) requires registration using the form below. Registration is free. 

Kindly note that participants in this NAISA regional gathering are asked to be current NAISA members and Five Colleges, Inc. (FCI) will sponsor a limited number of NAISA memberships.

The NAISA Northeast regional gathering / Five College NAIS Symposium is an in-person event. For inquiries about the accessibility of this event or to request any accommodations, contact Bea Cusin at bcusin@fivecolleges.edu. The Covid-19 requirements differ per campus and are quoted below for each event: 

September 22 Opening Reception at the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum: "Please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth through at least September 30 per MHC COVID-19 Health and Safety guidelines."

September 23 NAIS Symposium all-day programming at the UMass Campus Center:
"UMass is a mask welcome campus, and we encourage everyone to respect the choices that individuals make about their own masking. Masking is strongly encouraged during the first few weeks of the fall semester, particularly in crowded settings, or for individuals who are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19."

September 23 Closing Performance by Jennifer Kreisberg at Smith College:
"Masks are required in gatherings of 30 or more."
