Try to keep to 4 conferences, with possibility of another brown bag in the spring.

• Shaoping Moss discuss TEI
• MJ Canavan discuss CNI
Rebecca volunteered to coordinate the speakers. Backup speaker is Chris Hannon.

NextGen discussion
After lots of discussion, we decided to do more investigating of possible solutions for Next Generation catalogs. University of Chicago has a new Aquabrowser lens to look at. Others include WorldCat Local, Primo, Encore, Endeca, eXtensible Catalog, LibLime, Library Thing, etc. Sika and Marilyn will draft up a brief chart of options to share with FCLC. Where possible, the chart will include costs, time and effort, others who have integrated with ALEPH, features and functionality. We need to get some feedback from FCLC about future direction for Five Colleges and a framework of the timing and budget. Janet will check with Chris about FCLC’s budget timeline so we can get information to them in a timely manner.

State of future projects
• The catalog interface is the top priority. We may do another conference brown bag in the spring since that doesn’t take much time.
• LibGuides: UMass piloting, can integrate into WebCT Vista; Smith has a demo now, plans to subscribe for a year and test a few live class guides this semester.
• Five College IT guides – Janet will pass along to RIO. Marilyn will find an appropriate place to put the final documents on the Five College website.

Save the date, March 28 morning: UMass Amherst Digital Quadrangle series event, Siva Vaidhyanathan, author of “The Googlization of Everything” will be the keynote speaker at a morning program at UMass Amherst. More details will be forthcoming.
