Liz Lerman Animated Keynote Presentation – Ferocious Beauty: Genome. “Genetic research raises concrete prospects that previous generations scarcely imagined. How we heal, age, procreate and eat will all be altered in the coming years by scientific research happening right now. In Ferocious Beauty: Genome, premiered in 2005, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange explores this current historic moment of revelation and questioning. Choreographer Liz Lerman will introduce excerpts from the dance and discuss the multi-year collaboration with scientists that made the project possible.” Friday, November 13th, 4:30 pm, Hampshire College.
The Dance Theater Workshop 2009 - 2010 Van Lier Fellows are Mary Sullivan and Tara Aisha Willis. As Fellows, each artist will receive a 100-hour creative residency and professional development workshops through Dance Theater Workshop’s Outer/Space Program, a one-thousand dollar stipend, an artistic advisor, a paid administrative internship at Dance Theater Workshop, and a season pass to all Dance Theater Workshop performances. Now in its second year, the Van Lier Fellowship is designed to provide recent college graduates with resources and professional experience in the field of contemporary dance and performance, including an artistic network and arts administration experience. Fellows are recommended by local colleges and selected by a panel of working artists and Dance Theater Workshop staff.
