ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hampshire Div III student looking for ballet dancers for a piece to be performed at Hampshire December 4th and 5th, 2009. Dancers must be available for a weekly rehearsal and December 3rd-5th. Piece may involve pointe work. Email pkc05@hampshire.edu

Lectures by New York Times dance critic Claudia LaRocco. Monday Nov. 30th, 7-8:30pm (Dance History Undergrad Class) and Tuesday Dec. 1, 4-5:30pm (Theory and Practice of Dance Graduate Seminar)

Collaborative Dance Education Activity with Sankofa Outreach in Springfield. Guest artists from Springfield and UMass Amherst will engage with students from three Springfield middle schools on the history of stepping. Program culminates in a February performance. Bollywood Live at UMass Amherst. Celebrate the Festival of Lights with music by Kehkashaan: Live, DC’s hottest Indian/Pakistani band. The UMass Fusion Dance Team will open the evening with dance numbers from popular Bollywood films. November 7th, 8pm. Winter Intensive at Double Edge Theatre, Ashfield, MA. An intensive and intimate training experience for the creation of individual work and ensemble building. Program includes physical training, work with objects, design, indoor/outdoor site-specific investigation, creation of solo work in ensemble context, and music and vocal training. Become an ABT Certified Teacher. Trainings held at ABT in New York February 13th-20th (Primary Level – Level 3), July 19th-24th (Levels 4 and 5), July 26th-31st (Levels 6, 7, and Partnering), and August 4-11 (Primary Level – Level 3).
