Lecturer in Arabic Language (Apply)

The Five College Arabic Language Initiative (currently employing four lecturers) and Smith College invite applications for a one-year (with possible renewal) fifth Lecturer position in Arabic Language, which will be based at Smith or one of the colleges beginning Fall 2012. Master's degree in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, Culture, Arabic Studies or relevant fields required. Ph.D. preferred. We seek candidates with demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching Arabic language with the proficiency-communicative approach at all levels of prodiciency at the college level. The position involves teaching up to three courses each semester. Ability to teach advanced content courses preferred. Native or near-native fluency in English, Modern Standard Arabic, and at least one Arabic dialect is necessary.
