The first contains official documents that, for the most part, were maintained by Charles Harvey Brewster, an adjutant in the Massachusetts 10th Regiment, during the course of his official military duties. These documents consist of requisitions for supplies and receipts for supplies delivered, as well as requests by men in his company for furloughs and leaves. It also contains materials relating to Brewster's appointment, promotions, and discharge from the Union Army. This section also contains similar official documents kept by other local individuals who served in the Union Army. The second part contains 210 letters that Brewster wrote to his family in Northampton. The finding aid consists of an item-level description of all documents.
