Note: The correspondence of nearly 150 women has been identified within the Smith Alumnae Biographical Files and the papers of certain alumnae. To some extent, this list duplicates holdings in other collections, but it provides an excellent source of correspondence written by college women during the past century and a quarter. The bulk of these letters were written by women during the course of their studies at Smith, though some holdings span a lifetime. The size of the individual holdings varies widely, from 3 letters to more than 500. Almost 50 of these holdings contain at least 100 letters. There is a paper list giving name, class, and number of letters for correspondence relating to each individual.
